SKEE-BALL

Skee-Ball is an arcade game and one of the first redemption games. It is played by rolling a ball up an inclined lane and over a "ball-hop" hump that jumps the ball into bullseye rings. The object of the game is to collect as many points as possible by having the ball fall into holes in the rings which have progressively increasing point values.

Designer

We had a client that wanted to make a Skee-Ball game for their state's lottery page. I was the designer on the project and it was up to me to come up with a design for the control system. After research and some trial and error, I decided on the snap mechanic where you click on the ball and snap the mouse forward. The harder the snap the faster the ball traveled. I also collaborated with the art team in making some UI elements for when the player would score. We came up with a celebration for goals, and multipliers for the holes. This added more of a challenge to the game as you would aim for the holes with the multipliers.
